Our Mission
The IERCC mission is to promote environmental awareness at all age levels by collaborating with government agencies, educational institutions, green sustaining companies and other environmental resources.
Erie Canal 2010
Building on the success of the Erie Canal (the start of the industrial revolution in the United States), the Erie Canal 2010 project aims to propel us into the next green revolution. This state of the art facility will offer green technology, green building technology, photovoltaic power, a wind turbine, and multiple media outlets to fulfill our educational mission. Erie Canal 2010
Erie Canal 2010 is the most innovative project since the Erie Canal (a.k.a. Clinton's Ditch). This project will demonstrate how sustainable technology can be incorporated into an older infrastructure building and will allow the IERCC to provide free programming to all educational institutions through this new facility. This state-of-the-art facility is located on the original Erie Canal path and will feature multiple communication media outlets that will get the word out to the public that "green" is no longer a fad but mainstream USA. This innovative eco-friendly facility will allow any educator to see the buildings impact on the environment via the WWW through a web portal which would report generating power (via photovoltaic and wind turbine generators on site), current weather conditions, thermostat settings and power usage of the building. A unique team is being assembled to renovate this facility. If you would like to participate in this project and join the green team, please contact one of our coordinators at 518-377-3344.
